Being Anointed Believers
We as believers are in Jesus, and He is in us; thus we, too, have been and are divinely anointed, as affirmed by 2 Corinthians 1:20 (Amp) - “But it is God Who confirms and makes us steadfast and establishes us [in joint fellowship] with you in Christ, and has consecrated and anointed us endowing us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.”
- 2 Corinthians 2:14-16

FRANKINCENSE & MYRRH:
The “Magi from the east” honored the Christ child with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh - Matt. 2:11. The gospels recount that after His death His body was treated with “a mixture of myrrh and aloes.” Frankincense has come to be associated with His role as our intercessor (the bowl of incense in Rev 5:8 is frankincense, representing our prayers), myrrh with His suffering and death. In he Song of Soloman 3:6 refers to the bridegroom (Jesus) as “who is He coming in a pillar of smoke smelling of myrrh & frankincense.”

CAN & SHOULD OTHERS BE ANOINTED
Kings and priests, according to Scripture, were anointed with oil as a sign of transfer of power. Today as believers in Jesus as the divine Son of God, and personal Savior and Lord, we are “priests” -1 Peter 2:5,9; and kings, by virtue of having the King of Kings “in them” - Gal. 2:20. We justifiably view being anointed with oil as a physical manifestation of being filled continuously with the Holy Spirit as in 1 John 2:20; and 2 Cor. 1:21-22. Indeed, according to most Bible scholars, in God’s Word anointing oil typically symbolizes the Holy Spirit.
